About Sundara
Where the idea came from
Sundara started from a simple observation: many small hospitality businesses in Thailand are doing thoughtful, personal work — but operating with routines that have drifted into habits nobody examines. The owner sees everything through the lens of daily urgency. The staff follow what they were shown. Guests notice what no one on the team notices any more.
We began as an informal advisory service on Ko Samui in 2019, working with a handful of small resorts and beach restaurants to map their guest journeys and tighten up the moments that matter most. Word moved through the local hospitality community and the work grew steadily into what Sundara is today: a focused consulting practice for tourism and hospitality businesses across Thailand.
The name comes from the Sanskrit word for beautiful. It is a word used across Southeast Asian hospitality — and it captures what we believe good service looks like: not elaborate, but genuinely well considered.
Our Mission
What we are here to do
Our work is to help hospitality owners see their own business more clearly. Not to impose a system from outside, but to sit alongside the owner, walk through the guest experience with them, and reflect what we observe in a way that is useful.
We believe that good hospitality is mostly about small things done consistently. A warm arrival. A room that is ready. Staff who understand what the guest needs before the guest has to ask. These things are teachable and manageable — but they require someone to look at them deliberately.

How We Work
Our working standards
These are not policies written for a brochure. They are how we actually organise our work and relationships.
Confidentiality
Everything shared with us stays within our engagement. We do not discuss one client's situation with another and do not share findings without permission.
Agreed scope
Before any engagement begins, we confirm in writing what is included, what the deliverables are and what the timeline looks like. No surprises.
Written documentation
All sessions result in a written record. Journey summaries, process guidelines and advisory notes are formatted clearly and delivered within the agreed timeframe.
Direct access
You work with the person who knows your engagement. We do not hand off to junior staff once a project is underway.
Follow-through
We check in after deliverables are shared to make sure they were useful and to answer questions. The end of a project is not the end of the conversation.
Honest observation
We share what we observe, including the things that are working well. Our notes are balanced and based on what we found, not what would be pleasant to hear.
Our Expertise
Hospitality consulting in the Thai context
Running a hospitality property in Thailand — whether a small beach hotel, a resort, a villa or a cafe — involves a particular combination of challenges. Seasonal demand varies sharply. Staff turnover is a persistent difficulty. Guest expectations have shifted as the market has broadened. And many owners are managing across a language gap between themselves and their team, or between their team and their guests.
Our work is relevant to these specifics. We have spent years in this environment and understand the pressures. We do not apply a generic consulting framework. We come to each engagement with genuine curiosity about the particular property, the particular staff team and the particular guests they serve. The written outputs we produce are designed to be used — by the owner, by the team leader, by the front desk — not filed away.
